Traveling

Same goes for traveling. You are visiting an exiting new city or country, wouldn’t it be great to recognize your tribe right away?

Story

I’ve traveled some in my life. Some trips longer than others, but that’s another story. In 2013 I went to Australia with my then boyfriend, now husband. It was a wish come true, visiting this beautiful, lovely country with all it’s pretty (and some not so pretty) creatures and kind people. We’d walk the streets with a map and heaps of people would ask us out of the blue if they could help us. We stayed at AirBnB’s with the kindest and most helpful Aussies. We were sure to bring some of that home. We did. We’ve been to Thailand and Indonesia, to Italy and Austria. Everywhere we met beautiful people along our way. We brought some of it home with us and we try to practice the things we learned there daily.

Traveling enriches us. It shows us the world and her inhabitants in all its glory. We learn from everyone we meet. We can only be who we are by courtesy of others being exactly that.

We’re curious towards other cultures as we travel, why aren’t we when we welcome some cultures in our own countries? Xenophobic politicians sow hate abundantly, why? They fear the unknown. Let’s stop. Let’s incorporate our traveling-mindset into our daily lives. Show people you’re I EM. People travelling to your country but also people that seek refuge. People in need of community, of a new home.
